Hypnotherapy

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of altered awareness during which our subconscious mind is more open and receptive to suggestions that are given. We drift in and out of different levels of awareness many times a day, absorbing information on a subliminal level as well as consciously. Everyone is different. Some people say that their body feels like a lead weight, others say they feel as though they're floating away. Most people will agree that it's a lovely feeling because they are more relaxed than they have ever been before.

Can I be hypnotised against my will?
No, anyone can resist and it won't work. Hypnosis is co-operation between two people. Your therapist will show you the way and you can choose if you want to
go there or not.

When I am 'under' will I be asleep?
You will be aware of everything that is happening and being said the whole time, however you will be so deeply relaxed that you may find yourself drifting into different levels of awareness. Remember, your subconscious mind is active throughout and it is this that your therapist is working with.

Will I remember everything afterwards?
That depends how deep in hypnosis you are, but generally most people do remember either everything or certain parts of the experience. You will find that suggestions which have been given to you in hypnosis will resurface in your conscious, thinking mind after your hypnosis and these will be the thoughts that produce changes in your behaviour or way of thinking and feeling.

How do I know I will wake up from hypnosis?
No one has ever remained in hypnosis indefinitely. Even if something were to happen to the Hypnotherapist halfway through the session, you would still 'come out' of the trance state once rapport had been broken.

Are there any side effects from hypnosis?
The only side effects are the beneficial ones of feeling more relaxed afterwards and feeling more positive about whatever it was you sought hypnotherapy for. Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state.

The Therapies

Weight Control
Trying to lose weight? Let hypnotherapy help you focus
on what you want to gain, to look good, feel fantastic, live longer, wear the clothes you want. For most people, being overweight is nearly always trauma based from childhood. It does not have to be a deep shock, it can be something really quite small, that was important at the time. Hypnosis can bring out this hidden information from the subconscious so it can be dealt with. Once the reason has been found for eating more than the body needs, hypnotherapy will help you re-program your mind, so that you have a more balanced diet and permanent control of your weight.

Weight loss with hypnotherapy is a way of allowing the body and mind to return to their natural healthy balance.

Confidence Building
There are times in all our lives, for whatever reason redundancy, divorce, bereavement, when our confidence takes a knock. It is not always easy to pick yourself up again.

Hypnotherapy can reveal the amazing power of your own mind to re-build inner strength and confidence. Also, for challenges we all have to face such as exams, driving tests and presentations. Perfect recall suggestion while in hypnosis can make a really positive difference to performance.

Perfect recall is a one-hour session; confidence may need three sessions, which would be established at the initial consultation.

Stress
Stress is a huge problem in our world; we fight to keep our houses, cars, valuables and jobs. Causing ourselves worry and stress and then if they are threatened or lost even more stress. It is strange but true that stress is perfectly natural; it is the defence mechanism of the autonomic nervous system against attack, real or imagined. Our bodies release adrenalin for "fight or flight" reaction. Once the threat passes, our bodies return to normal because the adrenalin has been used in the fighting or running away. This is not so today. If the adrenalin remains in the system the result is what we know and feel as stress. Worst of all stress puts us into a permanent state of panic that stops all feelings of joy, and we all need fun in our lives. Apart from the pressure of society, the cause of stress may remain locked in the sub conscious for a long time. As hypnosis is the key to obtaining deep relaxation, it can calm and rest the mind in seconds. You will learn self-hypnosis techniques as well as receiving therapy.

Relaxation is a one-hour session; deep-seated stress may take three to five one-hour sessions.

Insomnia
Sleep like a log, sleep like a baby, very familiar sayings, but what if you can't? The lack of a good night's sleep or insomnia, can do more than make you tired, it can affect your career, family, relationships and your health. For many people some deep relaxation during hypnosis and training in self-hypnosis can be the solution.

However in some cases, if the insomnia is trauma based, three to five sessions may be necessary to overcome the problem.

Stop Smoking
Stop smoking the smart way; give yourself just one hour to be free from smoking.

With a one-hour session of hypnotherapy using the Austin Stop Smoking technique you will walk away a non-smoker and better still, as if you never were a smoker, so no cravings, bad temper or weight gain.

Just think how much better you will look and feel and how much financially better off too!

Once you have decided that you really want to quit the habit, this is the way forward.

The therapy is a one-hour session with an inclusive back-up session if necessary.

Panic and Fears
Fear is quite natural and in many cases for our protection, but when fear causes panic and disrupts our lives, then it is classed as a phobia and needs to be fixed. For instance the fear of flying can stop you enjoying holidays abroad with family or friends. Also common is irrational fear of doctors or dentists, why live with something that makes life difficult for you?

Sometimes fears/phobias such as these can be dealt with by suggestion hypnosis alone. However if they are trauma based they need to be addressed via the subconscious.

Suggestion therapy is a one-hour session; trauma based normally three to five one hour sessions.
