Homeopathy Technique
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing. It stimulates and assists the natural tendency of the body to heal it's self It recognises that symptoms of ill health are expressions of some form of disharmony within the 'whole' person and that it is the patient who needs treatment, not the disease.
Your Homeopath will prescribe a homeopathic medicine, or 'remedy', which matches your symptoms as you experience them. This also takes account of you as a person, your personal situation and individual characteristics, emotionally as well as physically.
You do not need to have some obvious physical ailment to visit a homeopath. Any upset to a person's physical, mental, or emotional well-being can be usefully addressed by homeopathy.
When it feels as if something is 'blocking' the way to a happier, healthier and more satisfying life, homeopathy can often give the impetus needed to take that first step towards a new 'freedom'.
What if I am under treatment from my G.P.?
It is not sensible to discontinue the treatment which has been prescribed by your GP or hospital, without prior discussion with them. Fortunately, there is nothing to prevent you having homeopathic treatment as well as conventional treatment, as the two systems of medicine operate at different levels, and it should be perfectly possible, initially, to continue your existing treatment in partnership with homeopathy. Your Homeopath will be very happy to work in conjunction with your GP or consultant.
The next Step
Firstly, find a Homeopath with whom you can identify. This is important in order to establish a partnership of trust. To 'discover' the person the Homeopath will need an initial consultation. This usually takes an hour and a half It is a chance for the Homeopath to find out about you, how you think and feel and details of your illness including your physical symptoms. Also it allows you time to ask any questions you may have about homeopathy and treatment.
The Homeopath will then prescribe a remedy, for you. Often this will be in the form of a single dose. This is because homeopathic remedies can be very powerful when prescribed and only one dose may be needed.
Homeopathic remedies cannot cause side effects and you cannot become addicted to them. This is because only a very minute amount of the active ingredient is used in a specially prepared form. Sometimes it may be necessary for the Homeopath to give further thought or research in order to select the remedy or remedies you need. If this happens the remedy will be posted to you.
Subsequent follow-up consultations will last half an hour and usually take place at monthly intervals until you feel well. Contact may also be made by telephone to check on your progress.
How soon will you benefit?
Well, it will depend on the kind of illness you have. A slowly developing problem such as arthritis will not disappear over night, but other complaints can be much quicker. Homeopathy heals from within to the outside. Patience is required because it is better to heal at your own pace. Everyone is unique.
When did Homeopathy start?
Homeopathy has existed for more than 200 hundred years, but the principles on which it is based have been recognised since classical times.
Homeopathy continues to be practised on the same principles that were laid down two hundred years ago. It continues to make use of many of the same medicines. As a result, there is a tremendous wealth of practical knowledge and experience available to homeopaths.
When the National Health Service was set up homeopathy was one of the two approved medical systems, alongside conventional western medicine.
Homeopathy is a flourishing system of medicine with a growing number of well trained, qualified practitioners and healthier satisfied patients. Many will know that it has long been the preferred form of treatment by The Royal Family.
